An adrenaline rush on the most beautiful rivers of northern Patagonia.

Raft descents down the Futaleufú river and its tributaries — from gentle family floats to multi-day expeditions through class V rapids. Every outing includes certified guides, a safety team, full river gear, logistics, transport, a snack and accident insurance.

Programs

  • Espolón · Family Floating — 3 h · 9 km · class II–III · ages 2+. A fun float for the whole family down the Espolón river and its gentle rapids.
  • Bridge to Bridge — 4.5 h · 11 km · class IV · ages 16+. The best-known stretch of the Futaleufú, around 13 rapids.
  • Bridge to Macal — 5 h · 15 km · class V · ages 16+. 19 rapids down to the confluence with Lake Yelcho, two of them class V.
  • Azul to Bridge — 6 h · 18 km · class V · ages 18+. Includes the Terminator section and its intense rapids.
  • Azul to Macal — 8 h (full day) · 22 km · class V · ages 18+. 25 rapids including Terminator (class V+), the longest on the Futaleufú.
  • Full River — 3-day expedition · 40+ km · class V · ages 18+. Every section of the river, riverside lunches and a closing Patagonian barbecue. Lodging not included.

  • Kayak lesson · 1 day — 3 h · 9 km · class II. Dynamic and personalized, suitable for all levels, with a certified professional instructor.
  • Kayak course · 3 days — 3 h per lesson · class II–III river. Learn to run the river, improving technique and confidence day by day along several stretches of the Espolón.
  • Lake kayak outing — 3 h · Lake Lonconao. Calm, obstacle-free, in an open or touring kayak.

Rainbow and brown trout in the clear waters of Chilean Patagonia.

Head upriver on the Futaleufú with an expert guide and boat. Crystal-clear waters, riverside views and the chance to catch rainbow and brown trout in one of the world's remote paradises. Ages 16+, preferably with prior fishing experience.

Programs

  • Half day — 4 h. A relaxing view of nature at the bottom of the world.
  • Full day — 8 h. Fishing and relaxing from sunrise, lunch overlooking the riverbanks and the chance to stay on until sunset.

Horseback rides along the historic trails linking Futaleufú to the Espolón valley. From short outings to full days on the lakeshore.

Programs

  • Between-Lakes Lookout — 3 h. Old settlers' trail through the forest, with some roots and obstacles. Minimum 2 people.
  • Piedra del Águila — 4 h. Lookout facing northwest over the town of Futaleufú. Gravel road and a final trail stretch (sometimes on foot, at the guide's call). Minimum 2 people.
  • Settlers' Road — 8 h. The old road connecting Futaleufú with El Espolón: ancient trees, several lookouts and a finish on the lakeshore.

Trails through the Futaleufú National Reserve and other parts of the valley — from gentle walks suitable for all ages to demanding climbs with steep ascents.

Programs

  • Futaleufú Highlights — 4 h. Short walks and drives between the town's most iconic spots, with insight into local flora, fauna and culture. Suitable for all ages.
  • Futaleufú Reserve · Piedra Ventosa — 3 h. Relatively easy path to a lookout over the Futaleufú river. Suitable for anyone in good health.
  • Futaleufú Reserve · Condor Lookout — 5 h. Climb to a lookout over the town, El Límite, the river and the mountains toward Argentina.
  • Lake Leal and Las Rosas Lookout — 5 h. Northwest-sector trail with two lookouts over the valley and the rural Espolón area.
  • Laguna Pinilla — 5 to 6 h. Forest trail with stretches of steep climbing. Good fitness recommended.

Programs

  • Duckies — 3 h. Paddle your own inflatable boat down sections of the river. A fun, technical and challenging run for those with basic experience. Includes certified guide, full gear (wetsuit, fins, helmet), logistics, transport and insurance.
  • River Bodyboarding — Let the currents of the Futa carry you, with special gear: helmet, fins and full wetsuit. An experience that connects you body-to-body with glacial water.
  • Canopy — 2 to 3 h on an eco-trail near Futaleufú. Fly some 30 m above the ground along 6 zipline stretches. Ages 3+. Includes expert guide, gear, logistics, transport and insurance.

For canopy: bring trekking shoes and long pants.

Practical notes

  • Transfers included. All activities include transport to and from the Lodge.
  • Book in advance. Activities require prior booking, subject to availability and season.
  • Cancellation policy. Free of charge with 24 hours' notice or more before the activity. Less than 24 hours, the full amount is charged.
  • Operation. Activities are run by third-party operators, coordinated through Uman Lodge.
