Location and how to get here
Futaleufú, meaning “Big River” in the Mapuche language, is a picturesque town nestled in the Andes, 350 metres above sea level and 10 km from the Argentine border. It lies in the Los Lagos Region, Palena Province, at the northern end of Chilean Patagonia, 150 km from the town of Chaitén.
From Argentina
Crossing the Andes through the Río Futaleufú International Pass, which links Trevelin with Futaleufú — a total of 98 km from Esquel airport to Uman Lodge.
From Chile
Taking the ferry from Puerto Montt to Chaitén, then 150 km by road; or via the Cardenal Samoré International Pass between Osorno and Bariloche, then entering from Esquel.
